Situation regarding the November “World Buddhist Assembly Bangkok”
I understand that many attendees for the November 6th to 12th B.E. 2554 (2011) “World Buddhist Assembly Bangkok” may be concerned regarding the flooding in many parts of Thailand. However, currently the situation in central Bangkok is normal with the exception of a few riverside locations that are affected. Unless there is a dramatic unforeseen change in the situation, the flooding is not expected to have any impact on the airport or the programme of events from the 6th to the 12th November.
The peak risk period for flooding close to the river is from the 16th to the 18th of October when the high tides for the month will reduce the rate of flow for the runoff water. We are informed by the Thai Meteorological Department that the Monsoon Season should finish around the middle of this month with the arrival of cool winds from China and that for central Bangkok the situation should be back to normal by November.
So please proceed with your arrangements and be assured that if the situation should change we will immediately inform you.
Thank you for your kind attention and consideration of the above information.
